It’s the first day of summer, well according to Sam Champion (Good Morning America), summer arrives at 7:09 p.m. this evening. So it’s the first evening of summer!! This week is going to be a scorcher on the eastern seaboard with temps in the mid to upper 90′s (don’t I sound like a weather girl?!). We have to peel out of layers and give our skin some air, but I still LOVE wearing my denim. What’s a girl to do? Find cool ways to keep that nostalgic material chic while beating the heat! You know I went on my web hunt, sniffing out images of what was already in my style brain and ta-da, I found a few. Check them out below.
Pair a denim or chambray top with a light and breezy maxi skirt. I’m in love with this pleated one from Chico’s (they’re hit or miss most times, this one is a HIT!), a personal favorite, plus it comes in an array of colors.
Show some leg and tap into your California girl persona with denim cut-offs. This MinkPink pair is almost identical to Kelly’s, but if they’re a little too cheeky for you, you can always opt for a rolled style that allows you to determine the length or get creative and take some scissors to a pair of jeans you already own.
Slip into effortless style with a chambray dress. This silhouette provides the perfect canvas for you to add funky or luxe jewelry, bring attention to stop-and-stare shoes or just be, effortless! I actually love this one from Land’s End (another hit or miss store that delivered a HIT!) another option to consider is this sleevless style.
My girl crush, Vashtie shows us how to mix boy with girl without looking a mess! I’m in LOVE with this one from J.Crew! So chic. Don’t you love how J.Crew creates looks that make you want to lose your mind and deplete your bank account? Then you snap back to reality and realize you have to pay bills.
