Stay Cool in The White Spot

Summer is here and the heat is on already! There have been days when I’m only outside for a few minutes and sweat beads begin to form on my forehead which, made me want to become a kid again and stand in front of someone’s sprinkler. Then I remember drenched clothes and soggy hair isn’t the best look when shopping, running errands or hanging out with friends. Can you imagine the looks I’d receive?

So how can we stay cool and still look all glamorous and fancy? Slip into the white spot! “I can’t wear all white.” “White makes me look big.” “I’m a dirt magnet when I wear white.” Trust me; I’ve heard this, felt the same way and experienced it. Trial and error runs and several nose dives in fashion/style magazines have taught me a thing or two about overcoming the white ensemble woes:

1. You don’t have to wear all white.
2. There are ways to mask the areas you don’t want to bring attention to when wearing white.
3. Send out a mass text message and email telling your friends that you’re wearing white and you advise them to stay far away from you if they’re dirty.
4. Just stay away from dirt and invest in a Tide pen! If that doesn’t help, draw inspiration from these looks.

Couple your white with a glitzy jacket like Angela did (her jacket is sold out) or slip into a colored jacket like Vashtie. I’m loving this purple peplum style and this floral option, both are perfect over an all white ensemble or just a white top with jeans or shorts.

Add a touch of dimension to your white, it’s the perfect illusion maker, easily masking bumps and other unmentionables that we don’t want to reveal to the world. Peplum silhouettes have been on my mind lately, mainly tops, so I’ve been on the hunt for chic options. With my style perusing skills turned up; I stumbled upon some waist-slimming, boob lifting, pretty little peplums that you’ll love. Option 1 (personal favorite), Option 2 (cute color block style) and Option 3 (a comfy t-shirt blend).

Do like Gwen and style your white with dope jewelry. Gwen worked with my favorite jewelry line, nOir and created some eye-catching pieces, looks like she’s wearing a necklace from the collection. View it here.

A good maxi with dimension hits the spot! This maxi by T-Bags looks super comfortable with that added dimension that we’re looking for!

Sometimes we just want to be glam and wear all white, nothing wrong with that. Often times, simplicity is the best route to take when you’re going down the all white road. Jennifer and Blake’s looks are very alluring, with a lot of credit going to the understated aesthetic. Slip into comfort with this t-shirt dress option, or go light and airy with this silk frock. This option by Calvin Klein Plus is lovely! My personal favorite is this ultra-glam, sexy summoning look by Derek Lam, then I realized that my bills and the basics (eating and having a roof over my head) were a little bit more important. One day Derek Lam, one day!

There you have it! My suggestions on staying cool in the white spot. How do you wear white in the summer?

  1. I really like the option with the peplum t-shirt! How cute is that, she looks so chic.

And you’re right. Invest in a Tide Pen, it’s the truth.

I always love to wear white, but i can never comfortable in it because of the very thought of spilling something at the begining of the day and having to walk around with a big stain for the rest of the day… not even sure a tide pen would give me the comfort i’d need lol!
