Polished – DIY Glitter Gradient Nail Art

Hey nail polish/art lovers! It’s been a while and I apologize, I’ve been planning and preparing for next week’s Pretty In Paint with S.E.C. party (enter to win access to it) and really hadn’t had time to do any nail art. But no worries, I’m back, this time with a cool one AND it’s super easy! This one is called Glitter Gradient and only requires 2 polishes, a solid lacquer and a glitter one. Ready? Let’s get into it!

Chanel – Black Satin & OPI – I’m All Ears

I used Black Satin by Chanel, seriously it’s the best black lacquer in the world and a fun sparkly fuschia from OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection – I’m All Ears. The contrast is brilliant!

First apply your base color and allow a bit of dry time, let it dry enough that if you tap your nail no indent is made.

Then lightly blot your glitter on. I dabbed a small amount down the center of the nail and then spreaded the glitter out as I worked my way to the tip of my nail with a light coating.

In the next step you’re going to focus more on the tip of the nail. Paint glitter on the tip of your nail and then apply more of the glitter on the tip of the nail. Blot versus painting when you’re focusing on the tip. Let it dry a bit and repeat the blotting action on the tip only. Once you’re done, it should look a little like this…

One thing I noticed after applying more glitter on the tip was a bit of a ridge mainly at the tip. To get rid of that, take your clean up brush (try an eyeliner brush) and dab it in nail polish remover, lightly sweep where the ridge begins out to the tip of the nail. It looks a little funky, but after top coat, everything is smooth and blended.

I told you it was easy! What do you think? Give the Glitter Gradient a try.
