Who tuned in to watch Red Carpet Arrivals and The Oscars last night? Raise your hand. *counting* Ahh, quite a few of you. Personally, watching the Red Carpet Arrivals and listening to the actors, actresses and performers gives me a rush! Partly because I’m chatting with people on Twitter and Facebook and my style eye is flushed with a smorgasbord of fashion and style. Not to mention some of the laughs that I get from my Twitter and Facebook friends, some of you are hilarious. For instance, during the Les Miserables performance when Sacha Cohen was on the stage singing, this tweet: “I didn’t know Borat was in this movie.”, cracked me up because I was thinking the SAME thing!
Anyway, as previously mentioned my style eye was overjoyed with all of the fashion and style goodness traipsing up and through Dolby last night. I noticed a couple of things and had to share it with you. 3 Lessons that can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe…
We love to ooh and ahh at the looks, but wouldn’t it be cool to somehow transpose some of what we see into our wardrobe? Well, there were 3 things that stood out and can easily be incorporated. Let’s get into them.
1. Bring Sexy Back
Bring sexy back, literally. Halle, Jennifer and Stacy’s dresses were beautiful; but the real razzle dazzle appeared when they turned around! Those dramatically, saucy designs in the back were like SURPRISE! Shop for tops, dresses and jackets (specifically blazers) with intricate details, sexy designs or even sheer panels in the back. It’s true making a dramatic entrance is key, but leaving a lasting exit is the cherry on top!
2. Putting On The Glitz…with Jewelry
There’s something about an eye-catching hand, wrist or neck that makes my eyes glaze over in delight. Accessories, in this case, jewelry, is your best supporting actress, it carries you and can make the entire look come alive. Jennifer G., Zoe and Jennifer L. know this and wowed onlookers with their choices. Shop for rings, necklaces and bracelets that bring a touch of excitement without overpowering and/or cheapening your look. Some of my go-to designers are: nOir, Melody Ehsani and Catbird.
3. Go Metallic
It was all about metallic looks via embellished, dazzling gowns last night. Stacy, Jennifer and Naomi looked amazing in their chromey/rhodium embellished hues. How can this color/trend be incorporated? I’d wear a metallic hue on my nails, my favorite is LAX Jet Setter by ncLA or a top with a bit of embellishment like this knit top from Nasty Gal.
Those are the 3 Lessons that I learned. Will you be incorporating any into your wardrobe or did you take any notes that you’ll be adding to your wardrobe?
I think that Naomi Watts absolutely killed it with her dress. Perfection. Period. Not understanding what wasn’t to love about it. I liked, Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidmans dresses but in my opinion it was Naomi by a mile. I also loved how Kristin Stewart was a hot mess, and Jennifer Lawrence looked terrific even falling over.
I loved Naomi’s dress too Shanna! The cut, design & color; like you said, perfection.
So many people wore backwards necklaces, I never even thought of that it’s definitely something I want to try in the near future!
They did, it gave a lot of looks a nice touch. I can definitely see you trying that look out. Post pics when you do, Chan!
