The annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards took place last night in New York and it was a fashion and style cornucopia! Designers, actresses, actors, rappers, stylists, television hosts, singers; a multitude of fashion savvy individuals traipsed through The Lincoln Center to socialize with friends and congratulate the winners and nominees. I was eagerly waiting for images of the arrivals to roll in; svelte ladies twirled in lovely gowns and flirtatious necklines while dapper gents strolled around in tailored suits and tuxedos. So many lovely looks caught my eye but there were five, yes FIVE that stood out from the rest. Check them out below.
#5: Julianne Hough in Kaufmanfranco
Julianne’s perfectly seasoned red gown and plunging neckline with just-the-right amount of tousled hair was a stunning yet classy look. I loved the minimal amount of jewelry and fresh face!
#4: Diane von Furstenberg in DVF
Now Diane is and will ALWAYS be my style fairy godmother! She always looks AMAZING and this handprint silhouette frock from her Fall 2012 collection was on target for the event. Don’t we all want to be as fashion forward as she is when we reach her age? So much style.
#3: Joan Smalls in Michael Kors
Joan glowed in her all white, hi-low ensemble; this hemline has been popular for a few seasons and I’m beginning to love it more and more. The gold accents via her shoes, cuff and clutch sprinkle in just enough zing to make her look clean and flirty!
#2: Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung & Prabal Gurung in Antonio Azzuolo
Now Zoe and Prabal looked PHENOMENAL!! The plunging neckline, sheer material and strategically placed cuts walked the risque tightrope without falling into being raunchy; the Prabal Gurung gown laid on her slim physique flawlessly. Can you say handsome? Prabal’s classic black tuxedo and perfectly coiffed hair is the epitome of handsome!
It was tough choosing my #1 look, I LOVED Zoe and Prabal…
#1: Solange in Marni
but Solange quickly catapulted to the top when I saw her photo. She’s giving us sultry with a dash of retro. She sashayed on the red carpet in a dazzling yellow pailette embellished Marni knee-length sheath. Added a pinch of edge with her chunky, funky arm candy and rings.
While her Missoni Perspex shoes put the cherry on top!
I remember when my eyes first saw those Missoni heels on the Spring 2012 runway, instant euphoria. They’re on sale now on Net-a-porter, hurry sizes are going fast!
