Right now I’m kind of obsessing over camouflage. Something about the rugged look makes me want to wear it, but not in the traditional since nor do I want to just throw on a t-shirt and sneakers. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of camouflage skinnies (thought I found a pair at Zara, but they went quick!) and shirt/jacket, but haven’t been that successful, so I opted for a pair of men’s shorts, took them to my seamstress since they were a little too baggy for my taste and voila, perfection! They fit great, but what type of top shall I wear? My eclechick sense kicked in and shouted out “Soften it up!”, which translates over to lace, perhaps a plunging neckline or something billowy and feminine. Still on the hunt for the perfect top, which prompted my web browsing. Seriously folks, the internet is one of the best ways to come up with ideas for looks and luckily, I found a few ways to soften up camouflage. Check ‘em out.
I love how June Ambrose softened her camo up with a loose top, sprinkled in some dynamic jewelry and wore heels. I’m equally smitten by Shiona Turini’s take on the utilitarian look, her melon blouse coupled with tan heels compliment the weathered camo look perfectly and Chioma Nnandi’s idea of coupling the rugged pattern with a feminine pattern is the epitome of eclechick style. I’m not bashing wearing a t-shirt and sneakers, but I do recommend stepping away from making your look monochromatic (wearing an olive shirt, hat and shoes). Break things up a bit by adding a funky jacket or statement jewelry. Check out Lala rockin’ camo with a motorcycle style jacket and sneakers below.
Nice, right? Her contrasting jacket and “Cavs” Air Jordan 4 sneakers give the camo pattern a nice kick. I’d definitely rock this look.
What do you think? Will you give camouflage a whirl by softening it up or kick up the edge with a unique jacket and statement sneakers?

I def will!! I laughed a little when I read this! My husband wanted to rock his J’s with his Camo shorts, and I was like ummmm you doing to much! I had to call and let him know he was on track!! Lol
See your husband knows Cynthia! Glad you let him know. Don’t shut him down so quickly next time.
The timing of this post is perfect! I’ve been meaning to stop in the Army & Navy store or even the boys’ department so I can see what I can find in camo!
Army & Navy is one of the best places to go. Try Karmaloop too, go for the smallest men’s size, that’s what I did.
I think I wear my camo short or pants at least once a week… lol
I can’t wait to wear my pair. When I tried them on, they were so comfortable. I can see how you would wear them often. LOL!
